For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith

—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God

— not by works, so that no one can boast.

Ephesians 2:8-9

UPDATES

PASTOR MARILEE’S VACATION

Thank you all for allowing my extended break. I was unaware at the time I planned three Sundays off just how

much I was going to need them. The week school was out for the summer, Stepping Stone Housing offered me a paid position as Executive Director, full-time. I had a week to pray and think about it. At our annual meeting, June 24th, the Stepping Stone Board voted unanimously to hire me. I requested a two week break. I began my new position this past Monday and consequently will not be going back to the classroom next year. One never knows when God will open a door. I am confident this is what God has planned for me as I serve both His church and the homeless in Lincoln County.

PASTOR'S PONDERING

Abraham is still learning the characteristics of Yahweh. In

today’s Scripture I think Abraham limits Yahweh. How often have I and do I limit my God? Here is a poem I have written in my Bible that I read in Decision Magazine in November of 1974.

Lord,

I crawled

across the barrenness

to you

with my empty cup,

uncertain

but asking

any small drop

of refreshment.

If only

I had known you better

I’d have come

running with a bucket.

Joyfully,

Marilee :)

FROM THE GARCIAS IN PERU

Dear Family in the Lord,

In a hot and humid climate, typical of the Peruvian jungle in summer and sometimes in winter, our house and surrounding property have been a cool, green space for our friends and small groups who have visited us.

Since we've been living here, there has been an approach from different churches asking to use our property for camps. In that sense, we have no greater pleasure than to offer not only our gifts, talents, and what God has given us to administer, but also to use it for His glory. We only regret not having the infrastructure conditions, for which we would need a large roof, concrete slab, better access, and electrical installations.

After having a program for people with disabilities, where some have accepted the Lord and now attend the local church, another local church has requested spaces to hold their teen camp this weekend, July 25-28. This group of people arriving this weekend is around 110. They will be camping outdoors using tents. Therefore, I need to stay in Pucallpa during this time to provide them with the best possible experience, especially for young people who haven't heard the gospel and others who will be strengthened in their faith.

Please support us in prayer, may the Lord be exalted and

glorified in the lives of approximately 110 young people who will be camping these days.

Dear brothers and sisters, we have no greater joy than to put what God has given us into His service, so that His Word may be preached. We are using our time and resources to make some basic installations and repairs. Thank God for Joaquín and Leonardo, who have two weeks of school break. They're also helping with cleaning the spaces to be used for the camp.

We will be hosting a second upcoming event for people with disabilities on August 23rd at our facilities. Pray that the Lord continues to confirm in their lives, salvation is in Jesus Christ alone. This is a program we will carry out with the support of the local church. We will share some blessings, such as food and the delivery of wheel chairs, crutches, and walkers, which, thanks to God, were obtained through the generosity of a family in the United States. Please join us with your prayers in this beautiful adventure of blessing others with the gospel, not only by providing these facilities, food, and also improving their daily lives.

In Christ and for His glory,

Juan Pablo, Marianela,

Joaquín & Leonardo García.

KAROL & SARA GOING TO PERU

Karol Clark and Sara Shannon will be traveling to Peru starting on Sunday, August 3. This short-term mission trip will consist of two parts. First, they will fly to Cusco, Peru in the Andes Mountains where they will be attending a women’s conference for the indigenous Quechua, direct descendants of the Incas. Sara will be speaking and

sharing God‘s word on a number of topics relevant to these women. Karol will be assisting with her ability to speak Spanish. On the second half of the trip, they will fly to Huanuco, Peru where they will meet up with Toby Shannon to participate, in whatever capacity, with their ministry of disabled people. This will be a costly trip, so if you feel the Lord leading you to contribute it would be greatly appreciated. You can make your donation out to: “Damariscotta Baptist Church” and write “Missions Trip: Karol & Sara” in the memo.

Thank you and God bless.

CHILDREN’S SUNDAY SCHOOL

6/23 was the last day of 10:00 AM Children’s Sunday School. We will pick it up again in September. Children’s Church will continue, following the Children’s message. Children are welcome to go downstairs to the nursery where they will have a short Bible lesson and have fun.

CHILDREN’S CHURCH LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS

Beginning in September, Children’s Church Leaders are needed. Please pray and ask God if He can use you to hang out with the children of our church during the worship service. Everything you need will be provided, even patience (God offers that for free). It involves going with the children downstairs after the children’s moment and working through some worksheets, managing their snack and playing with them until worship is over. You could volunteer once a month, once a year or whenever your schedule allows. Please talk with Marilee if you are

interested.

In lieu of passing the offering plates we are now placing them on the small tables at the beginning of the isles. You can place your offerings, tithes and gifts as you come or go from the sanctuary.
