What type of Worship Service?

Worship expresses who we are, and our love for God.  DBC has a unique blend of worship styles.  We reach out to our ‘more mature’ congregants by singing familiar favorites from the hymnal and we also reach out to the younger generation by including some contemporary music.  We always include the reading and preaching from the Word of God. We respond to God by affirming one’s faith and receiving believer’s baptism.  We also draw from the wider Christian tradition by following the liturgical seasons of the church year (such as Advent and Lent), observe Holy Days (such as Christmas, Ash Wednesday, Palm Sunday and Easter), and celebrate special occasions.   We use traditional symbols, paraments, colors, liturgies, and ordinances to re-enact the story of divine redemption, and to draw the whole person into a meaningful experience with God. Each service at DBC is designed to proclaim a specific theme to draw us closer to God, and discover in community the love and call of Jesus Christ.  While there is energy and passion, there is also reverence and dignity.    In summary, we are Baptists worshiping in an ecumenical tradition.
